Hayley Leibowitz
Award-winning editor, author and scriptwriter, Hayley Leibowitz has had a 25-year career in the media world. She has written for daily soap opera and television drama, including popular telenovela, Isidingo and series like Ashes to Ashes and High Rollers. As part of a writing team she has tackled everything from brainstorming meetings with producers to storylining, script editing and of course, scriptwriting.
Currently working as a magazine editor, she is also building her career as a romance author. Writing under a pen name, she has been published by Waterhouse Press and Liquid Silver Publishing. She has also self-published five novellas and three full-length contemporary romances so far. In addition, Hayley completed a middle-grade children’s manuscript through a course with The Writers College’s very own Helen Brain.
As an experienced journalist and editor, Hayley holds a BJourn from Rhodes University. In 2003, she was awarded second place in the Roche International Award for Obesity Journalism in the Medical category.
Tania Hutley
Tania Hutley worked for many years as a technical writer in the software industry, but she always dreamed of writing creatively. She began by writing literary short stories and has been a runner-up in New Zealand’s two most prestigious short story competitions, the Katherine Mansfield Awards and the Sunday Star Times Short Story Competition. In 2010 she won the Page and Blackmore National Short Story Award.
After branching out into novel writing, she published children’s books, science fiction novels, and co-wrote a fantasy series about witches. These days, she mainly writes contemporary romance and romantic comedy novels under the pen name Talia Hunter, and has even made the USA Today Bestsellers List. Though she started off with traditional publishers, she’s now enthusiastic about self-publishing and the control it gives to authors.
Born in New Zealand, she recently moved to Australia, where she’s constantly amazed and not at all freaked out by the weird and wonderful critters. When she’s not writing, you can usually find her with a glass of wine, a good book, and a jumbo-sized can of bug spray.
